Wow. Very nice work. I especially like the Dervish. You should try adding more backgrounds to your drawings. The one you did with the ranger and horse-thing is really well done.

Here's the drawing I made of Sanra Sprinkleworth for the mini-contest:

you did great on the jacket thing, with the fur, i really like it, youre great with details like that, shows you spent the time.

excellent work!

Thanks everybody for your comments

Thallandor: I've already accepted a few commissions for ingame gold (but I would readily accept cash ), you can see some of them in page 2.

Those are all very very awesome, I really like the poses on the necro and the monk though - anytime i play with photoshop with a character, or take a screenie to post my character somewhere, i always use a good pose.

Excellent work!!

Thx all

-Old 3FL- : I took me hours, you know, so I can't really tell you how I did. But basically, you make a selection on a new layer (forearm for example) and fill it with a very bright color. Then you take a slightly darker tone and start placing the shadows. And take a darker one, and a darker one until the shading is satisfying.

Good lord- your photoshop paintings of people look almost like in-game photos. You're amazing.

A tablet is definetely a worthy investment for you :-) Good way to draft/distribute/paint digital art much faster and saves space, paper, ink, and pencil money too!

A tablet is an awesome thing to own. I've had a wireless one for a year now, and it's still by far the coolest thing I've ever had. Don't kid yourself into believing that it'll be like drawing on paper, though. You have to adjust to the disconnect between your pen and your screen. You have to adjust to the fact that you can't turn your drawing surface. You have to adjust to the size of the surface. It's a lot of stuff to get used to, and for the first couple months it will probably take forever to pull off a drawing. Once you get past the first hump, though, you'll be cranking out drawings faster than you can name them. "Undo" is a feature that all artists want.

I had a nice Intuos 3 Wacom for a long time... I never could use it though, it was just so weird and different from using a mouse, or pencil. Seemed less efficient to me; but, some people love them.

I agree about the shading. Your shading work is very good! Even though the pictures are black & white sketchlike works the shading on them makes them look very 3D. I think your pictures have a certain out of the canvas feeling to them that makes technical stuff not matter much. Nice work!

About the tablets, if you are really into drawing and/or computer drawing I highly recommend a GOOD tablet. It will be worth every penny, don't fall for the cheap ones like Volito or Aiptek. They are rarely pro stuff and I hear they break often, especially the pens so it's a waste of money. Wacom Graphire or Intuos are good ones to consider.

Edit: Oh my! Somehow the very last posts so ignore the above. Congrats on the tablet. That tigerrr is hot stuff! The way you color is so detailed and refined just like your pencil works. Really sweet.

I take it you usually take screenshots and then look over or trace them? I ask because the stances of almost all your drawings match in-game idle or movement animations. I'll be more impressed to see something I haven't seen in-game already, but still nice work.

My only issue is that your drawings lack much 3d perspective beyond shading. (This is mainly an issue with the poses.) Also at times you seem to draw the heads too small. Which body part do you typically start with? If you're tracing or such I can understand if you don't start anywhere in particular. I can also understand your heads being smaller if you're drawing on a non-inclined surface, which will skew your perspective and make the drawing look different after you scan it in. I always hate that...

Anyway, good job. Try a perspective drawing of someone swinging their axe at the viewer or something - some sort of dynamic pose that isn't someone just standing or sitting with the "camera" planted squarely in front of them.
